Using darning needle, thread the CAST ON TAIL through each of the CO stitches and gently pull to close.
Using half of the roving, gently stuff the pumpkin.
Round 37: *(K2tog) *repeat to end of round finishing with 10 stitches
Rearrange your stitches so that Needle 1 has 4 stitches, Needle 2 has 2 stitches, and Needle 3 has 4 stitches
Round 38: *(k2tog) to end of round finishing with 5 stitches
Now put ALL STITCHES ON ONE NEEDLE. And change from orange yarn to green yarn with a simple square knot to join.
Continue with i-cord in green, about 1.5 inches.
Cast Off i-cord and using darning needle, pull tail through body of pumpkin.
You can leave your pumpkin as is OR…
Using the CO tail and a darning needle, carefully pull the orange CO tail yarn through points at the top and bottom of the pumpkin to sculpt the shape…make it a squattier pumpkin…might it uneven and more natural in shape…make it totally Tim Burton.
This is a very forgiving pattern with endless options for size by changing yarn weight, needle size, and number of ribbing rounds.
***The Providence Farm Pumpkin Knit Kit will produce 2 PUMPKINS about the size of those cute expensive gourds you buy for Thanksgiving table décor.
